Masters of the Universe: die Doku zur Spielzeugreihe!

Jedes Kind der 80er besaß He-Man-Spielzeugfiguren. Es gab de facto nichts anderes. Klar, Transformers, Bravestarr, Mask (von mir aus sogar Dinoraiders) hatten ihre Fans – aber die MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE überschatteten alles bisher dagewesene. Es ist wohl die erfolgreichste und bis heute meist geliebteste Toyline aller Zeiten. Ich kannte kaum ein anderes Kind, welches keine Spielzeugfiguren vom Planeten Eternia besaß. Von daher war es nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis ein Filmemacher dieses popkulturelle Phänomen näher unter die Lupe nimmt.

Chrysalis Movie wirft nun einen Blick hinter die Produktion der Spielzeugreihe und verbindet dies nicht nur mit netten Anekdoten, sondern zahlreichen exklusiven Interviews mit den Machern, die teilweise erstmalig über die Geschichte und Entstehung He-Mans sprechen. Dabei kommt heraus, dass es hinter den Kulissen mehrmals zu heftigen Streits und Krisen kam und die Schöpfung des Charakters und seiner Welt bis heute von mehreren Personen in Anspruch genommen wird.
